EDIT: Pulse returned!
EDIT: Another complication... Looks like the duck didn't make it.

I found a nest-less and unattended duck egg in a park about 11 days ago. I've never incubated an egg or own an incubator but I have experience with animals so I had a heating lamp on hand.
I made an incubator out of a wire bin, towels, water bowl, lamp, and thermometer and keep it between 32-36C. Its grown really well (spine and fully developed eye, big air cell). This morning I could even feel its pulse...
But when I went to check on it this afternoon, the lamp had shut off and the temperature had dropped to 27C. The vibrating pulse has stopped but its still moving. Its back up to 35C now and been about 10 minutes with consistent movement... but the pulsating hasn't returned...
Will it be ok?

Should be as 27C isn't that cold so the lamp wasn't off for long. Normal for the mother to leave the nest to feed and let the eggs cool off- some incubators shut down deliberately to mimic that natural condition.

Golly! Do let us know how you get on, and when the duckling hatches! :) Best of luck with it.

It’ll be fine :)17 but what will you do with a single little duck once it hatches? It’ll need company, do you have any other chicks coming up?

I'm not sure yet! I'm going to be home often so I'm hoping I can provide it some attention myself. I live right next to a pond. If I keep this duck it'll be a "pet"
