do i need a male?

have a very vicious male quail. can my girls lay eggs without a boy please? I only want the eggs to decorate and not to breed or eat. I f they lay eggs then will it be less then now with the boy? I appreciate any feed back and thankyou. :)02

Hi Helendarlleen and welcome to the Forum.
I bred a mixed group of Coturnix, but eventually had to get rid of all the males I hatched, because like you I was having so many horrific injuries to the girls. Once I just had an all- female group, they settled down together beautifully and have been laying like mad for two years now. Much easier to tame, as well, if they are quite literally not watching their backs the whole time!
Of course you would need a male if you wanted fertile eggs for hatching, although you could always buy some.
