Wonderful birds, large, friendly and intelligent. also good layers.
My girls have amazing memories and constantly, if loose in the garden, return to the hutch in which they were raised, stand on the patio outside it and nuzzle my hands for corn, treats, etc. They are a pleasure to have around, and also of course, very beautiful.

I aim to add 3 more to my flock next year, they are very long lived.

Its always nice to hear about a breed's traits at first hand, I didn't know they were long lived. I also think they are absolutely beautiful, I fell in love with some at the Fed a few years ago, trouble is, OH was not impressed :( Still, one day..... :D

Thanks, Marigold and Mrs. B.,
I will hopefully obtain some more eggs next year from the breeder, I have just 5 and want to make it eight, as my other girls are now approaching retirement may even make it ten, but I will miss the blue and white eggs the Legbars and Leghorns lay!

I think though, the sheer beauty of the Croads and their temperament maybe worth the sacrifice of the pretty shells. That is 2017's quandry!!!!!!
