Australia have finally announced that they're doing away with battery hen cages. Wait for it....

From 2036 (yes, another whole 14 years away), the hens will have a whole 750 square centimetres of "space". That's STILL less than 27 x 28cm floor area, and they think that this is a good thing????? :cry:

Apparently egg farmers will have to provide hens with nesting areas, access to perches and various platforms as well as areas to scratch about in. How the heck are they going to fit the chicken in the cage as well???

I can't believe that people think this is an acceptable way to keep animals. It makes me feel sick. :-x
