My brinsea incubator loses 6 min a day when turning the eggs. So I started the turner at half past, it then went back to 24 past after one day, then 18 past the next day and so on so on and I was wondering if any of you had experienced the same thing,

Also do you guys give your quail calcium supplements or don't you bother

As you've started the incubation, there's nothing you can do about it and so long as it's turning them oK I don't suppose it matters. If you're worried I would ring the Brinsea main dealer, you can find the number on the Brinsea website.
I fed my quails on layers pellets which had all the calcium they needed when in lay. When they were young, layers pellets wouldn't have been right for them as excess of calcium can cause kidney problems in developing birds. You also need to provide flint grit suitable for aviary birds. Chicken grit is too big for them. Sometimes this has fine oystershell in it and they will take it as and when they feel the need, so it needs a separate little hopper in your run once they are off chick crumb.
Did the drinkers arrive OK?

I have rung brinsea and they said that losing the 6 min a day is within the specification and should not affect the eggs. I am going to get the chick crumb on Thursday and what is it that I need in it to help them not get sick and yes thank you the drinkers arrived nicely and the quail love it. I have also given them a sand bath for them to throw over themselves from Tom
