Here are a couple of photos from the Stratford Show yesterday, courtesy of Rupert Stephenson. It is incredibly hard to photograph pairs of birds as you can imagine - so well done Rupert!

Now can anyone help me out with the colour?

Hi Tim,

Arn't they just splendid examples, and lovely photos too. The hen looks to be a "porcelain2, she has the tri -coloured markings, feathers are white tipped and lots of straw colouring. So I would plump for "porcelain" rather than Lavender, but after seeing every colour under the sun, when I went to pick up my new girls on Friday, Please forgive me if I am wrong.

Lordluck might be on shortly to confirm.....

Rupert has emailed me to say they are Porcelain and belong to Miss N. Hine, rather than Mr Dowden (as it says on the file name of the photos).

These are nice birds in a 'hard to get right' colour!. the Lavender gene unfortunately brings with it a tendency towards poor feather quality. Fret marks, and frayed, narrow weak feather are often found in Lavender or Porcelaine birds, but these two don't seem to be too badly affected.

ATTEN> Elmwood!!! ----(Yes , I do know its March now ,but---)-I blame you entirely for this---- my 'closed flock' developed a small chink in the door ! I have a quad of d'Anvers now! They are real cuties . came from a lovely lady --she even delivered them for me and wouldnt take any fuel money--- 130 mile round trip!! Restored a little faith in humans which has taken a definate plunge this week! Ros

A couple of weeks ago I received an email from Jed Dwight, the Belgium Bantam Club Newsletter editor and a number of photos.

I have added these to the Belgium Bantams section - although I have not yet written the breed infomation for this page, you will see lower down the page the links to the different Belgium Bantam photos, some of which are quite hard to find...

Ros - sounds like you've got the Belgian Bug!
