We have told ours they can be let out at 1 minute after minute according to DEFRA rules. I can hear them saying " I bet no human gets up at that time to let us out, and anyway we don't do that early"

And if you do get up to let them out, they'll probably say "Away you go! Don't let the door hit you on the way out!"

I opened the door today, and they moved as fast as their little legs could carry them. One flew straight on top of the hedge to survey everything. They have generally being having a good time, anything that flies, crawls or slithers along is fair game.

My girls got an hour of freedom today while I filled the garden waste bin. They surprised me by letting a couple of millipedes live to see another day, as though they've forgotten that bugs are for eating!

We have just come back from the Tall Ships races at Hartlepool, and up into Northumberland by Long Nanny, the sea and beaches were awash with dead gulls and terns, and there were many terns at nest sites obviously suffering with flu. You just hope the chicks manage to fledge
Several gull colonies in Norfolk are badly affected also
