Ferret outside the run ..snooping around the edge of the girls run looking for a way to get into them ..circled the outside of the run about 5 times --girls were on red alert ..managed to cafe up the ferret and drop it off in woods in nearby village .So glad we seen it before we went out ..god...
I've seen a few posts about washing with baby shampoo and towel dry then to dry with a hair dryer on a low setting ..but how often do chickens need washing and does it rid them of lice mites etc ?
Don't know if it's normal but dark blood drip under the perch in the sawdust this morning ..only a bit but don't know if that's a normal thing to see ?

Last week when we brought the girls in nothing on them ..today when I sat down with her there were little things crawling off her onto me...
Got the girls a couple weeks ago and they've settled in with no problems ..an egg a day so far from bluebell .
They taste so good as well and the yolks so much yellower than the shop bought free range eggs .Happy hens :-)
I've had my first egg a week after getting my 4 girls ..19 weeks old and I think it was my Bluebell laid the first egg .. I feel I laid it myself as I'm so excited .
Hi I'm just starting out in the chicken world haven't got any of yet just setting up their home and run etc for the next few weeks :-) and looking forward to hearing the sound of hens soon :-)
