I'm so angry and upset
a bloody fox dug his way into one of our pens and killed all my faverolles and the egyptian geese, he then dug his way from that pen into the cream legbar pen but luckily didn't bother with the birds in there, just dug his way out of that pen :| :cry...

The brooders heaters were off for i don't know how long and we lost half the chicks :cry: :cry: , i think it was lucky we got up very early today cos hubby wanted to go to salisbury auctions or we might of lost more
2 pekins have gone broody at the same time and in the favourite nesting boxes,there are 3 but no1 is favourite, no 2 second favourite, and no 3 rarely gets used, the other girls are going in and laying in the boxes where they are brooding and as hard as i try to get the eggs, the broodies are...
We have 1 khaki campbell drake 3 white campbell females and a pair of mallards who have all lived happily together for at least 6 months now, yesterday the 2 drakes were attacking one of the females campbells biting her on the neck and wings, she was bleeding, we had to seperate her for now.

quick question for a friend of mine, hubby went round and clipped her other ducks wings last night but the mandarins were too hard to catch as they were very shy.
Do they need there wings clipping like normal ducks to stop them flying ?

Yesterday the EU Council of Agriculture Ministers rejected Poland's attempt to delay the Europe-wide ban on barren battery cages. As a result, the ban is still due to come into force as planned in 2012. :D
i didn't notice that the wire that holds the pop hole open had snapped and had a very busy day so when i went out to close it i found the chooks all huddled in a pile on the steps to their house desperate to get in out of the cold ( bad me )
when i lifted the pop hole they looked so relieved...
i'm in a qwandry(sp), i was contacted by someone yesterday wanting a lot of pekin eggs over the course of the summer, when i asked what would be happening to them , it was a long story but it ended with pol poultry being available to buy in garden centres.
I'm not sure if this will be a good...
I have tried to reason with her and kicked her off the nest 3 times in 3 days :roll: , stolen her eggs :oops: lol but again shes back in the nest box with another egg, so ive given up :roll: , the incy is full of duck eggs, so i've tucked the other eggs back under her, given her corn and water...
we decided to put some duck eggs in the incy, do they need anything different to chicks, i have a few weeks to get ready, so any/all advice appreciated
we moved the house and run this morning, then after their free range this evening, i popped out to shut up the house and found then all stood where the house was yesterday, within sight of their house but they just could not work out how to get in there. :mrgreen: :lol:
