We had a nice downpour this morning so saved watering outside. Had to water in the polycrub of course.

Thunderstorm from 3.30am still ongoing at 6am, and lots of lovely rain, heavy downpours and light rain between, nice and cool

We've had a couple of afternoons with a gentle soft rain. Not nearly enough, but it filled the water barrels again. Temps are still around 19/20C falling to around 14 at night. Today, it's bright and sunny, but there's a strong, quite chilly, wind blowing.

After the thunderstorm and heavy rain until lunchtime, the brook filled and started to fill the lake. Never been so pleased to see the brook overfill.
By 8pm the level in the brook had dropped below the pipe, but at the "dry" end we have a couple of foot of water and the island is an island again. The carp appeared from the depths of the deep end and were rooting around in the mud by the bridge.
As you can see from the photo the lake was dry one end, we have had it get very low but never dry out completely. Luckily up the deep end it is about 8ft deep so the fish survived, although corralled somewhat.
on the plus side on the muddy damp edges we did get Green and Common Sandpiper feeding

Here in Whitchurch Hants, after weeks and weeks of nothing, we had fine drizzle all day on Monday - the day we had hoped to have tea in the garden, and photos of everyone at our diamond wedding anniversary. Sunny again all day on Tuesday, of course. We’ve had half an inch since then in the last two days, and that’s it, all we’ve had since some time in early July.

Isn't that just typical of British weather, the only day of the year you really want to be outside, and it rains.
Poor Clacton lost a lot of the flying display at their air show on Thursday due to the weather. such bad luck for anyone with things planned after the summer.
A friends daughters wedding had to have everything inside due to a field fire covering everything in choking smoke, the photo's were taken in the church. The reception inside the house with doors etc firmly shut

Still dry and warm here, no rain forecast until next weekend.
With the forecast for temps up to 19/20 for the next couple of weeks st least, I've taken a chance and planted some more veg - beetroot and leaf beet (perpetual spinach). If it doesn't grow, all I've lost is some seeds. And if it does grow, happy days!

It's actually getting warmer here - 19 degC tomorrow allegedly. Still low winds so midgies by the bucketload no doubt.

Same here. I’m in the middle of a massive project to increase the volume of rainwater we can save in the winter, to top up our pond in summer. We already have 500 litres of storage, 300 litres of which can be diverted straight into the pond by hoses attached to the butts, but I’m organising more and bigger butts in more useful places, to give three sets of 500 litres each. This has meant detaching and cleaning out the sludge from the bottom of each of our present butts, an annual job which needs them to be empty enough to tip the sludge on to the garden garden, so after months of dry weather it suddenly needed to be done in case it rains this weekend. I’m not very hopeful, despite the forecast, as there’s the usual ‘dry channel’ on the weather maps between the two wet corridors on either side of North Hampshire!

That’s 40.5C! And you’re doing all this for us from California! That would account for the fact that the time on your posts comes up as what would be the middle of the night here. We truly are an international forum now.
I have a friend who lives in Oregon, with similar weather problems, affected at this time by smoke from a huge fire a few miles away. I hope you’re at least safe, Josh, even if too hot.
