You would be surprised (although I suspect BYM wouldn't be!) at how many of those signs are actually necessary!

Really, it needs a dictionary definition of 'up' and 'down' in at least 10 languages.
Mind you, all our 'H' and 'C' taps are the wrong way round!
Maybe the lift is on the International Space Station :)

No I am not surprised, amazing how we ever grew up without all these signs to keep us safe.
Best ones I ever saw was on a hospital gate in France " Warning Guard Dogs operate here" Closely followed by this gem in Austria written in bad English on a cafe window "why not try one of our delicious tarts, please ask for a waitress"
OH has a favourite one from a newspaper, the headline read "Queen sees Fonteyn take 10 curtains"

Thinking about weighing has just reminded me:
Coming into Kenilworth a year or so ago someone had taped over the 's' on the automatic 'Too Fast' sign. Childish, but very funny at the time.

I was writing a sympathy card to somebody this evening, and I noticed that printed on the back was a stern warning: "Warning! This is not a toy. Keep out of reach of children. Sharp edges may cause laceration or injury." On. a. card.
What are we thinking of?!

They are. But do we really need warnings on everything? Any common sense that was left will atrophy from lack of use! :D

I didn't know the public at large still had any common sense - and it's not allied to intelligence either!

Bought a packet of walnuts, and on the back it said "warning packet may contain nuts"
