1 of my little bantams seems to have got paler in the face is this anything to worry about or could it be part of the moult which i think she may be starting although i have to admit i havent noticed hardly any feathers in the bantams side of the run .

she seems to be eating ok and drinking but she does go of on her own quite a bit .

Hi Karminski,

All of ours go pale when they start the moult and then stop laying so I doubt you have anything to worry about. Some go much paler than others. I know you have the red mite under control so that won't be the problem. Worth checking her crop and poos though, just in case.

all the poos are fine and her crop seems good , i hope it is just that as i really dont want to lose another one .

Hello, not sure if this helps, or is misleading, but my pekins look like traffic lights some days :) Their faces go from pale to pink to red & back again over the course of a day. I've only had chooks since April & was terribly worried about it at first, now think it's normal!

think my little girl will be of to the vets tomorrow if shes still with me in the morning , shes going paler and quieter although shes eating some corn and little pellets with a few mouth fulls of cabbage shes not eating as much as she should and her weight is dropping badly i have been so worried about her today , her top beak was longer then the bottom so i filed it down gently hoping that was what was stopping her from eating but now i dont know also today she done a couple of greeny looking poos well i think it was her but then i also found 2 in the larger section of the run where the big girls are so i dont know if they are being dropped by wild birds that sit in the tree as my girls havent had anything thats green until late afternoon today , at times today she has fullen over when shes tried walking after sitting still for some time and that really got to me but al this happened in the afternoon long after my vets had closed .
i've housed her on her own tonight to give her some peace so i hope she hasnt got to cold , i have done that with a few other girls that have gone quiet on me and a few hours peace and quiet seems to do them some good so i am trying it with her .

this is why i am looking at getting another 2 or 3 banties as if this one doesnt make it then i am down to 2 and i dont want to end up with just 1 as it wont be fair on her .

p.s forgot to add it does seem like shes starting to lose some wing feathers as a few looked like they were about to drop of but i think its more then the moult .

Hi Karminski. Your chicken problems seem never ending at the moment! The green poos will be infection or a green diet. If you are keeping her isolated tonight you will know in the morning -good luck with her.

lols the only probs i have at the mo is me being a prat by that i mean i have let my handsome boys go and i am missing them like crazy that i wish i could bribe the council to let me keep them but that will never happen  how can you fall in love with 2 birds :? { actully dont answer that }  .

i am hoping my little one isnt sick but just starting one hell of a moult as shes at about the right age to have a proper one so yeh fingers crossed for the morning :-)05 shes got to be about 1 1/2 - 2 yrs old now .one of my leghorn's went like the bantie and finally after about 3 weeks shes finally starting to pick up again i have everything crossed .

i lost my little girl before i could get her to the vets :( :( and she only did a slight poo over night and its very a little green but runny with dark bits :-)05 weird .
just wish i had the money to get an autopsy done but they are expensive but i have got rid of her now .
