Bird flu is back...

Bad news!. Ours are already locked in after a fox took one of the Araucanas so it will make no difference here, but I would imagine the free range farms are in for another testing time.

Sorry you lost one to a fox.
I will getting my bio security measures in place. Lets keep everything crossed that it's not as bad as last year

Abbotsbury in Dorset is in the control zone. There's a huge swannery there, and last year they had problems with migrating swans bringing avian flu with them.

Oh no! (for the Araucana too!)
but re the flu I suppose it would be a miracle if it didn't show up somewhere. At least the guided legal responsibility to assess risk and act accordingly was never lifted so hopefully there isn't anyone free ranging hens on the bank of a river.
To stop walking Auboise into the house I have slip on wellies for the back garden and run but will be avoiding the goose guano in the park again.

Just heard via Defra that the whole of England is now under Avian flu restriction as more cases have been found in Warwickshire
