Help and advise needed

Postby Mrchicken77 » Mon May 22, 2017 4:58 pm

I have a older chicken that has had diarrhoea that is a really dark brown in colour. She's eating and drinking normally but seems quite weak.also she's closing her eyes a lot and stretching her neck gaspering. After reading books and internet there's a lot of misleading information. Any help and advise would be appreciated

From what you say the first thing to look at would be one of the respiratory diseases/problems like Mycoplasma, IB and more rarely gapeworm. Check out this link and see how the diseases described tally with your birds symptoms.

Agree with Dinosaw, have a look at that link to see which symptoms match your chicken

This is a link to pics of chicken poo (oh, what glamorous lives we lead!). I've always found it really helpful, to be able to refer to. http://chat.allotment-garden.org/index. ... ic=17568.0

Hi Mr. Chicken and welcome to the Forum.
How old is your hen, and what breed? Has she ever been wormed with Flubenvet? a heavy worm burden can pull a hen down and make her less able to cope with other health problems. See Digestive Problems on Poultrykeeper site, https://poultrykeeper.com/digestive-system-problems/
