CRESTED INDIAN RUNNER
Interested to know others thoughts on the subject of Crested Indian Runners. I have hatched IR ducklings for over 8 years and this year from a previously mated pair I have had (out of 11 ducklings hatched) just one crested duckling. This is the first one I have had in all these years and as it has obviously survived and is thriving (is a lot bigger than its nest mates) I am thinking that the rogue gene may only be carried by one parent as this is the first instance from this pair who have had lots of ducklings before. Does anyone know if the gene is sex linked - i.e. can I tell the sex of the duckling from this? This duckling is also a lot bigger and at present the only very pale one with a ridiculous crest! Would love to hear others experiences. The drake has since gone to another home so if the female has any other crested offspring I shall know who to blame!

Hi! Aww she/he is gorgeous!
I know next to nothing about duck genetics but I do know that crests are not sex linked. This is a good article on genetics with crested ducks
