Fun digging a hole
Had to excavate around a collapsed drain on the garden which was causing a flood. Moral support from chickens standing at the side waiting for me to find worms and scratching the spoil back into the hole

They obviously thought it was all for their benefit!

Why else?! Building site = chicken theme park!

Re: Fun digging a hole
Nothing like digging big holes to keep a chicken happy. Decided that lavender pekins (Nancy now Lily) are inbuilt to dig. Lily has just discovered that there is soil under the 7 inches of woodchip and is digging for Australia

Re: Fun digging a hole
I was kept happy today by the sight of 4 men + digger, in the snow, removing large overgrown dead conifer hedge at the bottom of the garden. Good view from lounge window, sitting in the warm. Beats looking for worms any day!

Can just imagine all the beaks pressed against the weld mesh watching.......
Re: Fun digging a hole
Actually they were all holding their beaks because the men were simultaneously burning the hedge and the hen run was downwind. Still, I expect it made things a bit warmer for them.

My run currently looks as if small bombs have made craters.
Just as it starts to dry out with the cold/dry weather "Whoopee, it's dust bath time again!" I have just 9 small feathered bombs, but it looks as if I have 29.
