design for roll-away nest box?

Postby Blue » Thu Apr 14, 2011 8:31 pm

We are currently re-building some chicken housing, ready for "breeders" pens, to separate them from the general egg- layers.

Does anyone have a design or suggesions for how to build "roll - away" type nest boxes?

I need the eggs to be clean, safe (? padded walls?!) and need some kind of bars to prevent egg - eating ... the Silkie cockerel picked up the habit from some naughty old girls & he needs preventing from eating & from teaching his new "ladies" to do it.

please help! I'd rather work to a plan than cobble together something that may be unsuitable
thanks
:)

Hi There - these give a good idea of what to make, and you can buy the inserts seperately from Solway Feeders
