at the bottom of the page where it say's " whos online " it often says somthing like yahoo [Bot]
just what does this mean ?
i know it has little importantance - but it's bugging me :evil:

Its nothing serious. Its the search engines (Google, MSN etc) going thorugh for the forums for their search engines.

They don't do any harm and mean the posts on the forum can be found by people searching.

Yes, Bots are automated and crawl the web continually going from page to page, reading them as they go. Once a page is read (by say the Google Bot for example) there's another piece of software that has the famous Google algorithm that decides whether or not that page is worth indexing.

Once indexed, a page can be found in the search results for certain keywords.

I'm happy for them to crawl the forum as it means we may pick up some visitors from search engine searches.

What I really hate is when somebody registers and immediately posts messages with links to their site - just deleted one that posted the SAME message 18 times linking to a 'DIY build your own chicken coop site'! Spammers! Hate 'em! :evil:
