ah ah :-) Well after 2 weeks away on holiday, I have come back to completely different chickens,.. I thought that I wouldn't find them that much changed because my daughter had sent plenty of photos and videos,... but wow how wrong could I be???
Peckford used to be the smallest one and now he/she's the biggest one out of 4 chicks (what's the teenage term for a chick??? ;-) )

Chicks become growers at about 7-8 weeks, and should be fed growers feed from then. Gradually increase the proportion of growers feed rather than swapping it over straight away.

With you there, Marigold. I remember it as crumbs to growers at 8 weeks and growers to layers at 18 weeks.
By the way, one of my 19 week old Cream Legbars has started laying. Youngest I've ever known. I would prefer it if she concentrated on bodying up and producing a good, strong bone structure.
So September 1st it will be two Cream Legbars to one neighbour, two Barnevelders to another and two Araucanas and four Dominiques for me. Glad to be getting back to normal to be honest. Bring on November when I can get those blaating lambs into my freezer .............!

The 4 little chicks born in the week commencing the 9th July have grown so fast! The three anconas are called Tilly, Tom and Tiny - Tom being a rooster :-) And the red one is Peckford (we thought it was going to be a boy at first but we were wrong,... So it's actually Miss Peckford :D :-)10
Miss Peckford actually has some blue feathers on her tail now,... which you can't really see on the photo. Still not sure what breed it is, but it doesn't really matter... She's a great little chick all the same :-)
