Re: Bantams - Recommendations please?
We had two Bantam Wyandottes. Looked lovely and fluffy with beautiful feathering but lay- ha ha! If we got 50 a year I'd be amazed. Think one did 50 and the other about 20. Strange because our large fowl are excellent layers, even though they are fancy colours. And they were quite nasty. The Orping...

Re: WATER OR LACK OF IT
I think you need to register with your water company, so that anyone who phones in can be told what your exemption is. At least that is what I have been given to understand by another forum member elsewhere who needs to use a hosepipe for her birds.

Re: Dark comb and sneezing
With all due respect, I doubt it is AI. There isn't any around at the moment, and having lived through an epidemic with all the vets in their white suits, wellingtons etc. I am a bit paranoid about it, so keep an ear to the ground. I was also told by the vet at the time, that birds with AI die fast,...

Re: First egg hatched but no more sounds.
I mix chicks that are about a week to 10 days apart, and while as Chris says they do forms flocks, they seem to integrate without too much of a problem. The issue is the difference in size for me, so I try and watch carefully to see that all goes well.

Re: Successful first hatch but will I have problems ahead?
Dinosaw - I often hatch different sized chicks and keep them all in the same hatch group. Though the bigger ones might be throwing their weight around a little, as long as you keep an eye on them, I don't think you will have a problem. Once you move them out into bigger quarters then you can do a re...

Have you tried Emily de Gray? She's the registrar for the Cream Legbars and might be able to help you. I think her particulars are on the Rare Poultry Society website and certainly there is a link to her website on there.

Re: R-com king suro
Had two of the things - ditched them as soon as I could as they were useless - never did find the small print re 20C - I live in an old house with no central heating so the temp was seldom above 13 - 15 at that time of the year! I found there were hot spots so the eggs had to be moved around a lot. ...
