Re: Chinese painted quail help

I had a couple CPQ (Charley and Martha) and I too never thought I'd get chicks ever... But at some point something must have clicked and Martha sat on her eggs. The first time was unsuccessful, but then the 2nd time pretty much as soon as she had enough eggs she hatched 6 exactly 16 days later. We l...

Re: New chicks!

Lol 😅 yes and he must ne the fastest chick I've seen so far. Two weeks old now and they're growing fast! They can jump to the side of the box now so I'm having to put some chicken wire over the box when we're not watching them. They could do with a bigger living space but they'll have to wait until ...

Re: Charley injured

Charley has now fully recovered. His head feathers are still a little shorter than what they should be but at least he's not bold anymore ☺️ He's now living with the 3 girls, but he only has eyes for Martha still... Not that she's all that pleased about that lol I think she wouldn't mind being left ...

Re: Obvious when you think about it .......!

Oh no! That is so sad... So sorry that this happened. I wouldn't have thought of this either to be fair if i had room for a similar set up. I think it might be possible that the chicks decided to go to her of their own will. So far I have had to take any chicks hatched by my hens away and have them ...

Re: quail questions

Hi All, Well I have found this pretty interesting as I have had exactly the same problem recently with my CPQ between the youngs and the parents not getting on with each other past the 6th week. I reported that Dad Charley had been quite badly injured, though I couldn't tell for sure by whom. So, ju...

Re: New chicks!

Don't be mistaken,... It's only for a treat and a little exercise... To be fair at the moment both chicks are sleeping a lot so don't have much interest in a run lol

New chicks!

https://youtu.be/n8abpPuFYr0 https://youtu.be/8JHXSU-C5U8 A couple videos of the first chick to hatch. I had eggs in the incubator but they have all been a fail. Not sure why but I think maybe the basic incubator I was using wasn't quite good enough, especially for the humidity levels. But Booboo (o...

Re: Charley injured

This is very much the way I have bern holding them, but somehow they still move about a lot and try to push with their wings and feet. They are so soft and so small that I just can't keep hold of them, much like a bar of soap. It's really incredible! Charley and Martha are more docile and I am ok wi...
