Black and Grey Frizzles

May I introduce Booboo (black) and Doris (grey). Booboo is driven by her stomach, a follower, she tags along the other girls, and always afraid to miss out on something she'll run a 100m in less than a second if she thinks the others are getting something good. She lays the smallest, roundest (if th...

Re: Tiny eggs

I'd say this was a Chinese painted quail or button quail egg... I have noticed that when I went to a shop the other day where they were selling quail eggs,... I hadn't realised how much smaller our Martha's eggs are,... lol Attached photos of the first couple eggs we had from her. Though some of the...

Re: Help working out breed please?

Thank you both,... Forgot to say that we have named this one Peckford… And at the minute, between this little one and the 3 Ancona chicks, pecking order is very much Peckford order!!!

Re: Ancona Chicks

Just this week lost my last Ancona girl - nearly 5. Loved her to bits, just be prepared for the noise, though if you have not had Anconas before, great layers, and forever telling everyone off. She was still laying when she died. Ah thank you and sorry to hear this about your girl Ancona... I must ...

Hi Could anyone help with 2 issues please? I have 2 Chinese Painted Quails Charley and Martha, one male and one female. On the photos, Martha is the larger bird and looks like her mascara is smudged under her eyes,... They are around 1 and a half years old now. They live in the same (huge) cage as B...

Ancona Chicks

Hi all, Photos of my 3 little Ancona chicks Tilly, Tom & Tiny (as named by my daughters). Obviously still to early to know whether they are pullets or roosters so there may be a name change or adjustment at some point soon :D :D On the photos, with the 3 of them, they are approximately 3 1/2 weeks o...

Re: Photos of Pekin Bantams

Hi again lol
I have just realised that the photo I have posted of Dusty looks more like a white pekin but her colour goes whiter after a period of being broody, and much more lavender like any other time... She had come out of broodiness on this photo... Hence the whiter look....

Re: Photos of Pekin Bantams

Hi All, I have 4 Pekins, 2 smooth (lavender and black mottled - also I always thought they were called "pied" but I might be wrong lol) and 2 frizzles (a black and a grey one). All 4 have lovely personalities, and the plumage feels so soft! They can be broody very easily though I have found, especia...

Re: new quails

Hi! I realise that the original post is quite old now but I wondered if there anything I can do about my male quail who has a bare back because the hen keeps pecking at him. They get on really well though normally and he's fine otherwise, no marks just lack of feathers... Also what can you do to mak...
