Re: Is there no limit to human stupidity?

Liked the gold toilet. The poshest one I ever saw was by the Tomas Crapper Company- contrary to popular opinion TC didn't invent the flushing toilet, just the ballcock and the water trap parts. The nicest ones I've ever seen are in a Castle converted to a hotel! They are "antique" (is there such th...

Re: Is there no limit to human stupidity?

My two cats are "special needs" and have to be indoor only. They are both on a veterinary diet (urinary). That's as far as I go with "pampering". I read about the gold loo, Marigold. You'd have to wonder why anyone thought a gold loo was a good idea in the first place. I mean, does it give people so...

Re: Bonanza!

Your jumper is amazing!
I'm a very simple knitter, and very slow! But I enjoy it, which is the main thing!

Re: Bonanza!

For intaglia, (i.e, when knitting a pattern with a motif,) it's much easier if you just unwind lengths of yarn, about a metre, and leave them trailing at the back. Just gently pull the threads through when it begins to get a bit tangled, or after you have crossed the thread to prevent a hole appear...

Re: Bonanza!

I love knitting, but I'm the slowest knitter in the world! Last year, I knitted a lovely jumper for my little grandson, with a paddington bear motif knitted into the front. Took me forever, and when doing the motif, there were five or six bobbins of different coloured wools hanging at the back. They...

Re: Bald belly advice

I had a hybrid years ago that used to go bald on her tummy & bum every Summer. Couldn't find anything wrong with her. The first time it happened, I did try all sorts of things, thinking, like you, that something must be wrong. But she was fine, other than the feather loss. I came to the conclusion t...

Re: Youth Values

While there is still a lot of homophobia and, sadly, racism is rife here, among young people here, it seems to be "cool" to be gay/bi/transgender etc. Friend of mine, when her daughter was in school as a teenager (now around 19 and married), she was, apparently, the only straight/non transgender pup...

A lot of todays songs don't have lyrics as such either.
That's very true. There was a "song" out some months ago, the lyrics of which consisted of "shake your a**", repeated ad nauseum.

Re: Old Music

You'd have to wonder, wouldn't you, whether many of the modern young "music stars" will endure like many of those from the 70s and 80s. Do you think, in 30 or 40 years, anyone will be thrilled by receiving a new Nicki Minaj (don't know if that's correct?) CD? Or Kanye West? So many greats in that er...

Re: Weather

We've had tons of rain, with flooding in places. Not around here, thankfully. And very strong winds. Still a little windy, and dark clouds overhead, with more rain to come.
