There’s a couple here who had a holiday booked in the USA on one of those ‘dude ranches’. They’re both keen horse types. Many folk have had to change their plans. The real question is how long this is going to last.

The Lyrid Meteor Shower the other night. Reminds me of how trivial human endeavour is in the greater scheme of things and that is vaguely comforting. Also comforting that it’s debris from a comet called Thatcher. I’m sure there’s a joke in there somewhere!

Yesterday a friend here found a ewe struggling feebly with its eyes and tongue removed by a bunch of crows. These birds quarter the island looking for the weak or sickly.
