Re: "Tilly" update

I had a quick look last night. We used a torch about an inch in diameter and a toilet roll as we haven't a proper one so hope they are ok. Tried not to do it for too long. Definately goslings moving around. Saw what looked like the eye and head. As it gets nearer to hatch time do I need to do anythi...

"Tilly" update

Tilly still hasn't laid a single egg :? So when my farrier came, he has an incy so gave him 6 eggs, haven't heard from him yet, BUT, in the meantime one of our chooks went broody so out of curiosity as we weren't expecting anything, my OH put two eggs under her. A second hen has now gone broody so t...

Re: Goose eggs

Thank you for your replies. Gosh didn't realise they could be that much. They aren't fertile as I shouldn't have a gander. I mean shouldn't as I was supposed to have 4 females, although one died shortly after we had her. I know that Nellie the smaller Embden is laying as we caught her one afternoon ...

Goose eggs

Hi, We had our very first goose egg last week :D . At the moment getting one every other day but not sure who is laying them, whether it is one or more. Was a bit surprised as they are only 10 months old. I have someone who wants to buy some but I haven't a clue how much goose eggs sell for having n...

Corti 25

Hi, I have been thinking of getting a Corti 25 automatic incubator. Has anyone used one and are they okay? Up until now we have put ducks eggs under the Muscovy when she goes broody in May. Only have the one and she is getting on a bit. We left her in the duck house and when they hatched made it so ...

Re: Ducks laying in winter

Hi Ducky, Thank you. That was very useful. Need to find some now. I live in Warwickshire and seem to find it hard to find anyone around here. The same thing happened when I was looking for the geese. I am still looking for a gander. Hoping, maybe, he will stop them getting into trouble. It is like h...

Ducks laying in winter

Hi, Someone has asked me for ducks eggs but expected to have a supply through winter as well. The ducks I have stop laying in October and don't lay another egg until March. Don't know about the Khakis as we have only just had them. Is there a duck which will lay a few in winter, or can I persuade mi...

Selling Duck Eggs

Hi The restaurant where I work wants to buy Duck eggs. The only information I can find including DEFRA just refers to hens eggs. Does anyone know whether the same rules apply to Duck eggs. A quick update on the goslings. Sadly one of the Toulouse died Sunday last week. I have no idea why, Saturday n...

Re: Introducing new ducks

Hi Sadly, hasn't quite been a happy outcome with the ducks. The three settled in the afternoon and when it was getting dusk, went out, shouted bedtime and the original ducks trooped into the shed and the three new ones followed and went in no bother. Great. Sunday I was at work early as we were goin...
