Re: Dustbath question

Personally, I use just top soil and give it a light spray of water while watering the plants to keep it off being totally dry. They seem to prefer it that way - as it would be generally in a flower bed. I gave mine a slice of melon for the first time ever the other day and they looked at it like it ...

Re: Poorly Peckford - Any ideas please?

You could take his temperature Sandrine. Its easy enough with a common digital thermometer. That will tell you if there is an internal infection (typically peritonitis - not always related to eggs.) An infection can paralyse the gizzard and make for what seems to be an impacted crop just because foo...

Re: What can we do?

Just out of interest, how much electricity do you all use per day? About 7KWh on a Brum work day (out of the house for 9 hours ish) and 10KWh at weekends and working at home Been running a cement mixer lately on those days but also that's when cooking on the electric mostly takes place I suppose. I...

Re: What can we do?

Well there you go 127% - and it was flying that did it. I think its percentage of the carbon target. Mine was smaller than UK average but still, obviously, too big. Well its the Olympics in Tokyo next year so it would be way to expensive anyway! After that I'll have to go by pushbike! Screenshot fro...

Re: What can we do?

Its fairly easy for one image Sandrach - more are possible but you have to be quick with the send button as the uploaded files (more than one) seem to time out. You have to use the full editor and then, below the post, select the attachments tab. You 'add files' and then 'place them inline'. The edi...

Re: What can we do?

I think children should have to do all the cleaning in school and that defiantly would make dumping trash a social no-no.
The roof is coming along nicely. Its only small but the only open ground we've got. If the chickens got up there they would eat the lot in half an hour!

Re: Poorly Peckford - Any ideas please?

I think big combs vary more, day to day, in their redness. My hen Pom has a very small comb and it is always (when in lay) a rude red! (Pom for pomegranate.) Lulu has a huge comb and it shows changes much more - even a little purple at the tips sometimes but she is fine. I think Peckford has a bit o...

Re: What can we do?

You don't have a bamboo toothbrush Marigold? - I'm surprised and shocked! Hen-Gen you've nailed it! Its all anyone can do. I live in a little Viccy house - they are terrible for insulation but it is also very small. Flew to Japan twice in the last couple of years - that is some serious consumption -...

Ah! I think they will work something like Android - double tap to select a word, drag the selection handles and press and hold for options (inc copy and paste)? Or something like that.

Re: Poorly Peckford - Any ideas please?

Oh! Peckford! His comb is red which is a good sign (not lacking oxygen which would be a very bad sign) and feathers look glossy. Its something odd going on though as Marigold says. You say others are unusually sleepy too?
