Bloody Egg
One of my girls has laid an egg with blood smeared over it - She's healthy, bright & otherwise normal. I popped upside down to take a peek at her vent and there seemed to be a 'bulge' of skin coming out of her vent as I picked her up, but if dissapeared back inside really quickly & everything now lo...

Re: Ventilation V Warmth
Hi Foxy, I have a Broughton 902A I think. It's triangular shaped with the house above the run and a drawbridge that drops down. The plastic does not cover the upstairs, just the run below as my pekins where being battered by winds and rain was turning the run below into a mudbath and they where cons...

Ventilation V Warmth
Has anyone out there got a Forsham Ark? Due to the cold weather (& having just administered antibyotics for chest infections to all 3 birds), I've just bought 2 clear plastic corrigated sheets - to allow some air flow - and secured them to either side of my ark. I've got a run extention attached, so...

Re: Syringe problem
Hi,
Was definately giving 0.2ml per day to each bird for 5 days - if it helps anyone. Small birds, but if double dose, then good thing as they may have lost some in the struggle to get it in them!

Re: biosecurity and quarantine for Mareks
Hi, I recently lost a bird that waswas diagnosed by vet. I was told not to restock AT ALL (as vaccinated birds can become carriers as well as unvacinated pick up the infection) and to leave the ground / garden to recover for at least 3 months before restocking. I was also advised to clean everything...

Re: Syringe problem
We've been wedging the syringe in her beak, as got to hold her head tight to stop her swinging it about and work syringe with the other hand. She's never been easy to handle & faster than a pigeon sized rocket. Tried wrapping her in a towel too, but she just shot out of it like a little feathery bul...

Syringe problem
Currently issuing antibiotics via a syringe to a bantam. She gets 0.2ml a day, but having problems getting her to take them (this is 3rd day). Last couple of days she's sneezed a lot after I gave them to her & today, she seemed to be 'gaping' for air and unable to breath, so had to shake her upside ...

Re: Maraks - info please
Hi, Thanks for the links/info, will heed Berties advice and get rid of the litter etc. Just to confirm, I had an autopsy done on the second bird. I was also told that they'd been vacinated when I bought them, but for whatever reason, it seems that it didn't work. I've notified everyone that needs to...
