Re: Bullying drake

I used to get stressed about seperation pens during breedi...

Re: Bullying drake

Hi Shell :) you are not alone, this is happening all over with duck people. We just get used to it and have our separate pens ready for the season. This time of year I get calls about domestic ducks being dumped on rivers and public ponds, guess what, they are all drakes. I have 7 on my local river,...

This is an x-ray taken on one of my drakes a few years ago that shows just how HUGE their gonads are at this time of the year, in the winter they probably wouldn't even show up on x-ray.

Re: Bullying drake

Hi! Bless you for rescuing him, thats a great thing you have done. In my many years of duck keeping I have seen this over and over and its awful to watch. Over the years I have tried literally everything, including chemical hormone suppressants for both the drake and female in question. It is always...

Re: What do you think of these ducks???

I thought this article from call duck expert Chris Ashton may clear up any confusion on them needing bathing water. He actually states that they need it more than most.

Re: What do you think of these ducks???

Upper Brook Farm, I am wondering what research/behavioral observations you base your opinions on in regard to call ducks emphatically not needing water? In your opinion, what makes them different to other ducks?
