so sorry for your loss.
could have been a heart attack, it happened to one of my hens some years ago, such a shock, she was a healthy beauty, but i just found her, dead, lying on her side :cry: :cry:

Quarantine is best, may not be a 'cold', could be mild symptoms mycoplasma gallisepticum or infectious coryza etc

if you think theyve got it they need to go to the vet, have a blood test and if they are positive the vet prescribes tylan soluble

I dont know about water, but you can buy garlic granules from lifeguard so it wont be poisonous. I think its good for breathing, also has some good vitamins and kills worms.

agree I have some incubated chicks, all the hens were ranging and the chicks were in a run, its quite an old run, and the latch has always been faulty, so when i went to check on the chickens in the afternoon, these little chicks were roaming around with their parents ( who didnt know they had child...

Hi,
i think that the soft eggs could be due to stress, this does occur, or lack of calcium. Do they have oyster shell?
Other causes could be bullying, underlying disease etc...
