Re: Hello all. Newbie from Nottinghamshire

Further to my previous, chicks love their surroundings, their mates, and usually their doting humums, they have no wish to fly away from it all. That they do is a total myth. Wings intact!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Hello all. Newbie from Nottinghamshire

Please don't clip their wings, if you do they simply cannot take off out of danger from the fox for instance should it show up. I think it is a dreadful thing to do, and would never under any circumstances consider doing it. I sold a bantam once to a woman who returned it saying it would not settle....

Re: chickens eat their own eggs

Yes, chickens just love eggs, don't they?

Re: Broody Mo

My Silkie who went broody and sat on the perch and growled at everyone who came near, but did not have any eggs, is at it again. This time she is joined by her sister equally daft and eggless; I'm in the happy position of being able to leave them to it. They appear to hardly eat or drink at all, but...

3 beautiful 12 week pullets (hybrid) good homes needed

I have these three girls, 12 weeks old, hatched and raised together, lovely natures, well grown and very pretty, but after my accident, I feel I must cut the number of girls I can sensibly keep. They are free to a loving home. Anyone on the Forum is very welcome to them, one or all of them. Two of t...

Re: sex change

My elderly Ancona Dottie has grown huge spurs, and keeps trying to mount the others not very successfully, and she is growing not only white headed but increasingly aggressive, still lovely to me though and still laying.

Re: poultry worms

I worm mine with Flubenvet pellets every six months just to be sure they don't have worms.

Re: SOS! What's wrong with Violet?

Poor you, a beak can hurt and bruise. Even my little Pekin cockerel, Pierre, only does a "for show" attempt peck. Possibly Violet's future with you may need careful thought, I have never had a girl peck me, or even try to. I would not like to run the gauntlet when collecting eggs, so watch out Viole...
