Re: sex change

I still have a pullock from last years hatch. Looked 100% a pullet, feathered up just like a pullet, but acted like a cock. At around 8 months it finally decided to grow spurs. Now with spring arriving it decided on its sex and chose to look like a cock with comb and sickle feathers growing, but I r...

Re: Fly strike- our first case

Flystrike is horrible, I lost a sultan to it many years back. Thankfully I don't keep very feathery breeds anymore and haven't seen it since. My neighbour treats his sheep with a pour-on solution and within minutes the maggots come crawling out. I have to say it is really very gross. :-)03 You used ...

Re: The Jokes section.

A chap came into our Library the other day and asked me where the self help books were.
I told him that although I could tell him I wasn't going to, as I felt it would be rather defeating the object.

Re: Guinea Pigs (Cavys)

Great minds think alike Hen-Gen... Having got very fed up with all the lockdown and the new rules and regs for showing etc. I started looking for a possible new breeding hobby a few weeks back. I firmly ruled out ANYTHING that DEFRA might be vaguely interested in, I ruled out rabbits due to the new ...

Re: Newbie - electric fencing question

Hello, Personally I like the Hotline fencer units. Basically because you can get spare parts for them if anything goes wrong - which is rare anyway - and you can find people who can repair them. I hate throwing things away if they can be fixed, and most other cheaper fencer units seem not to do spar...

Re: Gad the flies!

Get some muscovy ducklings, best fly catchers ever. They even use them in the USA to keep flies down in cattle yards. Great fun watching them gallop around chasing flies.

Re: Are you seeking refuge?

Hello Poultry Keeper forum, :-)99 Thank you being kind enough to take in the sad group of refugees that have shuffled over here recently from PPF. I have kept my forum name the same. It is good to see so many familiar names on here, but I am sure I will get confuzzled by the ones who are different. ...
