Re: Man vs. Mouse

You know what I've discovered?? The last couple of weeks, my cats have been obsessing about an electrical outlet on the living room wall. Just the one. They ignore all the others. Now, when we moved into this house, one of the outlets didn't work, and we had an electrician in to investigate. He foun...

Re: Aeronoutical chickens

Amazing! I've never seen chickens fly before! Mine just sort of use their wings as sails, to help them run along!

Re: Too many chickens, too little time.

Those are very good looking birds, Hen Gen! I guess no matter what, there will always be something we still want to do. Which is very good for us, I suppose. After all, if we didn't have something we still wanted to do, there wouldn't be a lot of point to anything, would there?!

We've had some quite stormy conditions here, and lakes ful of rain falling! The place is awash! One of my water barrells (an old one which has a slight leak, so only...

The Indonesian breed Ayam Cemani featured in Practical Poultry January 2012, page 26 if my memory serves correctly.
And I keep seeing it on FB, claiming that everything is black, including the flesh, internal organs, eggs and in one rather lurid post, even the blood! :-)07 I do not engage!

Re: Sneezing and runny nose

I would at the very least isolate her. She's displaying what, in chickens, are always worrying symptoms - which isn't necessarily saying that she is seriously ill or infectious - but respiratory illnesses can become serious quite quickly in birds, because of how their respiratory system works. A bir...

Re: Chicks not laying.

To be honest, I don't think there's anything wrong. It's the time of year when chickens start to moult and can go off lay because of that, and also, there's a lot less light with longer nights and shorter days coming in, and it's daylight hours which govern laying to a large extent. They may not lay...

Re: Hope you are all ok?!

We had some rain which has washed in the fertiliser. If anyone has heard the news about the disastrous flooding in Aude, fortunately it's away East from us. At least 6 drowned overnight when their cars were washed off the roads in the worst flooding since 1891. Fire brigade can't cope with all the ...
