Re: Youth Values

While there is still a lot of homophobia and, sadly, racism is rife here, among young people here, it seems to be "cool" to be gay/bi/transgender etc. Friend of mine, when her daughter was in school as a teenager (now around 19 and married), she was, apparently, the only straight/non transgender pup...

A lot of todays songs don't have lyrics as such either.
That's very true. There was a "song" out some months ago, the lyrics of which consisted of "shake your a**", repeated ad nauseum.

Re: Old Music

You'd have to wonder, wouldn't you, whether many of the modern young "music stars" will endure like many of those from the 70s and 80s. Do you think, in 30 or 40 years, anyone will be thrilled by receiving a new Nicki Minaj (don't know if that's correct?) CD? Or Kanye West? So many greats in that er...

Re: Weather

We've had tons of rain, with flooding in places. Not around here, thankfully. And very strong winds. Still a little windy, and dark clouds overhead, with more rain to come.

Re: Weather

The climate has changed here too in the last 25 years. It's as if the seasons have shifted a bit forwards. Winters tend to be milder, and Summers are a bit wetter, I think. The coldest part of our Winter now tends to be from late January to end of February or even into March. Sent from my Moto G Pla...

Re: Weather

We were promised thunder storms through the night and until mid morning with torrential rain and strong winds, woke up to dry paths and garden, cloudy, no wind, then a sharp shower and hot and sunny, wind has picked up from midday though. Hope nobody gets too much wind or rain, and it is set fair f...

Re: Recipes

It's plum glut time! I'm making wine, and freezing lots, but I've also made this cake, which is just delish! I used an 8inch, deep, square pan, which gives a large cake. Lovely served warm, with cream or ice cream! plum cake: 300g caster sugar 230g soft butter 280g flour (plain) 2 teaspoons baking p...

Re: Weather

So, how is the weather with you all now? We had a tremendous thunder storm during the night! Almost literally shook the house! I never minded thunderstorms until I lived in New Mexico 25 years ago. Thunder/lightening storms during the Summer are a tourist attraction there, bring artists and photogra...
