Re: Help working out breed please?

With you there, Marigold. I remember it as crumbs to growers at 8 weeks and growers to layers at 18 weeks. By the way, one of my 19 week old Cream Legbars has started laying. Youngest I've ever known. I would prefer it if she concentrated on bodying up and producing a good, strong bone structure. So...

Re: latest bus chatter

Yeh I went to Gravesend once. It was shut! :D Rainham Marshes sounds good though. I do miss the diversity you have down there. Especially the insects. Mention black darters, migrant hawkers or downy emeralds here they look at you as though they need to call the men in white coats. Loved those progra...

Re: latest bus chatter

We have a bus here that takes two hours to get to Lerwick picking up en route. I haveñ to travel on it because I’m not allowed to drive until Jan 4th. It picks up every kind of eccentric known to mankind ( including me, I guess ). How does it get across the wet bit? hovercraft? Ah, the wonders of m...

Re: latest bus chatter

That has to be the most entertaining bus anywhere. Can I buy a season ticket? We have a bus here that takes two hours to get to Lerwick picking up en route. I have to travel on it because I’m not allowed to drive until Jan 4th. It picks up every kind of eccentric known to mankind ( including me, I g...

Well as someone who thinks Jazz/Funk is the reason for existence I can’t wait to hear them.

Been on Amazon. Got ‘Shikoku No Jinsei’ on its way. On your head be it! :D

Re: Starlings

An update. I was discussing this ongoing problem with a neighbour (actually lives two miles away) and he says construct a wire netting tunnel about 30ins long that goes in front of each pop hole. Apparently the hens soon learn to use the tunnel but the starlings never do, trying to get through the n...

Re: prepare to start scratching!!

It’s odd how fashions change isn’t it LadyA. We grew up with Lino and it was the height of luxury to have carpets. Nowadays, unless youre the kind of conscientious person who removes their shoes at the door, carpets are seen as dirty things that have no place in the modern home. Certainly laminate f...

Re: prepare to start scratching!!

Never had that experience but I do remember being regularly checked by the nit nurse at primary school. And having scabies when I was about 40. Young folk today would think we were really insanitary!

Agree MrsBiscuit. Miniature donkeys are wonderful but a bit out of my price range. I had a fantasy of breeding mini hinnies but maybe in my next life!
People's inability to see the big picture is worrying. bigyetimans stories from the bus spring to mind.

Re: nature notes

Thursley Common sounds a great place though I've never heard of it. Is it in Essex? Got me to thinking about wildlife. I've never seen a naked mole rat, a spitting cobra or a cassowary for example but if I could choose one animal to see it would be a mole cricket. From pictures they look to be magni...
