Re: Weed or plant?

I looked through the Flora of Britain and Northern Europe and though there were about four species with similar leaves none of them fitted the bill. Anyway campanula is not native so wasn’t shown. Most of these things are OK if contained. I quite like Japanese Knotweed though to hear most people tal...

Re: Back to Japan

They are messengers for the sun goddess Omikami Amaterasu (Cock-a-doodle-doooooo!) OMG! Is whale sushi a thing! It probably exists but seeing as last time we walked miles and miles for every meal until Carol was tentatively comfortable with a somewhat vaguely vegetarian option, then - who knows! Fe...

Re: New Life

Mine are due in a fortnight. I can’t look at them without thinking of a whole range of recipes. I particularly like Cornish Pasties made with lamb rather than beef. I only keep four ewes now but that still gives me females to sell and males to freeze. Must be admitted that they do seem to have a dea...

Re: New Life

Suffolk’s - they have no right to live on Gods clean earth!🥴
Seriously though they are difficult lambers and the lambs will lay down and die if confronted with any adversity.
Small heads and narrow shoulders save a lot of work. Top marks to you though for delivering it.

Re: Weather

One final contribution on dogs eating poo. Dogs cannot digest vegetable matter. So by eating such material after it has been through the gut of a herbivore gives them access to minerals that were previously unavailable to them. Well, so they say! Weather is a mystery to me, and, it has to be said, s...

Re: Weather

Very cold here, yesterday's hailstorm still frozen on the grass. Today we had cold, drenching rain all day. Why is it that, when dogs are taken out to do the necessary in the rain, they spend so much more time sniffing every tuft of grass, instead of getting on with it? Dogs, huh! Run them in a fie...

Re: Weather

Well, I’m back. Drunk beer, enjoyed the warmth and eaten both Indian and Chinese. Also drunk Negronis, my favourite cocktail.
Had a great time but glad to be back home.

Re: Weather

It's turned decidedly cooler down here today- forecast is 15C and cloudy, down from 22C and sunny yesterday. Still no rain so we are having to water plants already! We lived just outside Burton upon Trent Hen-Gen and for many years used to drink Marstons Pedigree. During my many return trips (for i...
