Re: Unsure what eggs are in incy

Thank you so much for your replies. Foxy, is there a candler you would recommend, that's not silly money. At the moment been using torch and tube out of kitchen roll. We candled them all on Fri at 14 days and they all appeared to be at the same stage. 11 of them were black one side with blood veins ...

Unsure what eggs are in incy

Hi We have Khakis and a Muscovy. OH borrowed a Rcom 20 pro from our neighbour and put 12 ducks eggs in and it is set to ducks which, of course, is 28 days. All 12 are growing with 11 days to go. I realised there could be a problem. Have asked others and no one knows the answer. If Bacardi is laying ...

Re: Failed to hatch goose eggs again

Sorry, got it wrong, Bacardi and Coke are 2 years old not 3. They are the same age as the goose we hatched, the first year the other geese laid, under a hen.

Re: Failed to hatch goose eggs again

Thank you for your replies. They do have a large pond. Does depth play a part? It's a bit low, but should still be reasonably deep in the middle. I didn't candle them as the gander is permanently outside the door. Two man job, one to hold the gander and one to candle. Sometimes both geese were sitti...

Failed to hatch goose eggs again

Hi My 2 geese have failed to hatch any eggs for the 2nd year. Last year they sat for the first time at 2 years old. Nellie made a nest and laid some eggs, we added some. Ellie didn't make a nest but decided to share the one with Nellie, but they kept moving it, thought it was just because it was the...

Gosling not thriving

Last Weds 29th June we had another Gosling hatch. Lucky 29.07.11.jpg When OH went into chicken house found it on the floor. It had been pecked a little bit by the chickens. There was an injury to the top of it's head, back of it's neck and on it's back next to it's tail. He picked it up thinking it w...

Re: Mucky Ducklings?

Thank you, I have a small cat litter tray so will try putting some warm water in it and see if it will just soften the gunk and it will come off. :) Don't know what they will think. Our old Muscovy rarely went on the pond. If she did it was only on the edge where she could stand up. Quick wash and s...
