Re: Hello from France!

Welcome! Whereabouts in France are you, beautiful country, somewhere I lived for a while many moons ago. What sort of bird is that in your avatar - it looks like it could be a lovely big fat orpington, but it could be lots of other things as well, the image is too small for a good look!

Re: Buff Orpingtons

They can scramble over 3ft netting, but rarely choose to do so, so 4 foot should be fine.

Re: nature notes

Well after a long gap where all it seemed to do was rain, we now have a period of heat. This morning I watched a pair of broad bodied chaser dragonflies mate in mid air over a patch of water, then the female dipped her abdomen down to lay eggs about 20 times, whilst her mate waited, then they flew o...

Re: To hatch or not to hatch...

:D I met a friend yesterday and he used to keep chicken and raise his own birds, but the incy has been put away for years. It was his birthday a month ago and somebody gave him a cockeral, so he went out and bought 4 pullets for him, and is slowly easing himself back into the swing of it. I suspect ...

Re: Am I missing something...?

That sounds awful, the poor woman, well done everyone on rallying round and I hope the owners get dealt with. A friend of mine had her large labradoodle set on by some sort of pit bull, he fell off a ridge, but survived, but obviously it was a horrible experience. I have to say we have had experienc...

Re: Am I missing something...?

We have recently been refused the adoption of a couple of cats belonging to the late mother of a friend of ours, on the grounds that we would let the cats outside. The cats had previously been indoor/outdoor cats, our friend is the lady's son and he wanted us to have them, but the niece, who is curr...

Re: Peckford the gentleman

Lovely! You did brilliantly, giving the food to him so he could give it to the girls. Its one of the best things about having a cockeral with the flock, you see how a flock is meant to behave. He does look handsome. My big old orpington boys were very considerate in all aspects of life, except jumpi...

No idea, but lovely Mum, lovely chick! Mum looks super healthy, judging by her face pigment. All those lovely blue feathers as well, thanks for posting!
