Re: nature notes

 Must have been a slightly weird experience BYM! I have seen those mice in clothing things on antiques programmes. I was up very early this morning and threw open a window to hear a weird call. I knew it was a bird, although it sounded slightly mechanical. A cockeral was crowing in response. ...

Re: Wedding Vows

:-)08 I am looking for a bow down in respect emoticon! Lovely stories, one and all. I like the way you still celebrate your wedding anniversary LadyA and what an amazing story about longevity of the family, you must feel very rooted there. And Marigold, what longevity as well, its quite awe inspirin...

Re: nature notes

Off on a slight tangent, this morning we cleared out our adega (where you make wine and store stuff, wood in our case). It's dark and cool, made of stone with an earth floor. My hand encountered something soft. Cue scream. I sent OH to investigate and when he brought it out into the daylight, it was...

Re: New Brexit stamps out tomorrow!

:D

Last week we had a Donald Trump egg. I opened a box of bought eggs, one had a small ginger feather stuck to the top. In a very grown up fashion I added a face to the shell and DT sat on the windowsill until this lunchtime when he was eaten....

Indeed, no buffoon.

My mother says he looks like an unmade bed.

Re: Fat balls

That's interesting, about the lack of wood pigeons. Both where my Mum lives and at our old house in the UK, we became overrun with the things, to the extent my Mum no longer puts food out but they are still the dominant species in her garden. At our house they became a real nuisance to some of neigh...

Re: nature notes

 Well you did all you could, that's the main thing. I have been watching sparrow flying school out of the window, particularly one baby who seemed to think the idea was to flounder about in the flower bed, lose Mum, then spend an age craning his/her neck to find her, then flutter to the floor...

Re: nature notes

Yes, a while ago I happened to see a clip of some programme about a farmer with a proper farm who now just grew seed for bird feed. I hadn't thought about this before, about where all the different seeds actually came from in such quantities! We have turtle doves here, I'd never seen one before, the...
