Power Cuts during incubation
I have been incubating 7 Poland eggs, these were due to hatch yesterday. Over the last three weeks we have had no less than 4 power cuts lasting several hours. Fortunately the average temperature does stay around 25C so not as drastic as it could be. This morning I have 5 eggs pipping, so very pleas...

My chickens get lots of greens everyday and are on a layers pellets or mash - whatever is available, it can be e...

Re: chickens not laying yet..
Just so you have some comparison, my RIR bantam hatched 24 Jan and I have had 3 eggs from her this week. I am sure your hen will be laying very soon, especially if they have a cosy nest box.

Re: Polands hatching
Foxy I had to intervene - got one more plus 2 dead on the shell. All in all very happy with 7 out of 9 in the Brinsea. The other incubator that I borrowed is a JN4-48, and I can see one more Poland has hatched in there - I put 3 in together with 29 RIRs. However, I am concerned with the humidity in ...

Re: Which Incubator
I have used the Brinsea Mini echo with excellent results for many hatches - my only recommendation would be to remove the thermometer at the point where you stop turning the eggs as the chicks tend to get tangled up with it.

Polands hatching
I'm so chuffed, brought in 12 hatching eggs, very long flight, and as I write I have 5 hatched and at least 2 more pipping out of 9 eggs in my Brinsea Mini echo. 3 more eggs due to hatch tomorrow are in a borrowed incubator together with 30 RIR eggs. New to this breed, what I love so far is each one...
