Quiet hen

Hi, one of my hens has gone all quiet this afternoon. The others are running around the garden when I have fed them but she is standing under a bush doing nothing. I went upto her and she moved away. She is top hen so seems strange her behaviour. Any ideas/help?

Swedish blue/Shetland info wanted

hello, I am considering my first ducks next year and wondered if anyone can tell me more about the swedish blue and the shetland breeds. I have looked them up on the internet but knowledge on these forum pages is probably more valuable than what I have found. Anything from temperament and noise to e...

bolshie cockerel

hello! Our two new hens and cockerel have been introduced with the three older hens. Everything is okay, except the cockerel seems to be picking on HIS sisters, not the new ones. Is he just being a cocky teenager (he is only 16 weeks old) with his girls, but knows that the older trio are the top of ...

Ducks in central scotland

Does anyone here sell ducks near central scotland? I live in east lothian and am only looking for a couple - breed not that important, but bantam sizes (not call - too noisy!) preferred..
Thanks

Re: what duck!?

Thanks for your ideas, tips and information!
I will look up these bantam ducks mentioned - not sure about the call ducks - maybe a bit too noisy. Any ducks that are relatively quiet?!
Cheers,
D

Scotland

Hello all, I think this forum is fantastic! I guess there is nothing the moderators can do, BUT, I wish that there was more input from Scottish breeders/backyard keepers/local knowledge as regards chooks, dooks and everything else. Unfortunately searching the "for sale" areas or breeders or where-to...

what duck!?

Hello, have a few banty chickens but have always loved ducks. Used to have a lot of khaki campbells when i was a kid. Now I would like to expand - have a small garden - ducks could roam free (area about 10x10 metres) and would like a couple(?) of ducks. I do not have pond but could improvise (with a...
