Maybe I can hypnotize Bonnie into thinking she is an owl. She looks a bit like one in the early morning :)
She's not the only one!

Re: First time raising quails

Ahh, what a lovely setup for them. Great for Joe as well. I'm glad you're not getting too aggressive mating from the male. I had a lot of trouble with the males I hatched from several batches, they just hung on and damaged the females so badly I dreaded finding blood all over the cage and a bleeding...

Re: Hello from Tasmania

Chinese (chinensis) quail are the tiny ones, also known as button quail. Very sweet little birds, but eggs are too tiny to eat. I'm not sure your pet shop knows a lot about them, but as long as the birds are healthy that's all that matters. Coturnix are the best ones for laying, so long as they have...

Re: Aeronoutical chickens

No, that’s new to me too, LadyA. Also, l can’t help it but I know the colour is chamois but I can’t identify the breed. It says they're Friesian x Wyandotte. The challenges and opportunities of keeping poultry in different climates is endlessly interesting. i'm glad the ...

Re: Too many chickens, too little time.

Beautiful birds, HenGen. I would like some, if you didn't live hundreds of miles and a lot of water away from me!
And I hope and expect you've got at least another 30 years for experimenting.

Re: stormy weather!!

However my copse is now leafless and ready for winter. Even so a neighbour was putting out cat food yesterday for a hedgehog. I read that as 'my corpse is now lifeless and ready for winter.' Glad a second reading was reassuring. Down here in Hampshire, our hedgehogs are still stoking up with the fo...

More likely that they know he's a teenage boy with naughty thoughts, and are putting him in his place!
