I would'nt worry about not keeping a male, your neighbours will never work out what the noise is or where its coming from

Re: Leg Rings?

There are also poultry club of gb closed rings, pre printed with individual numbers specifically registered to the buyer, different colour each year.
I breed a lot, keep detailed records and couldn't function without them.

Re: Myco -exactly what is it and how do you treat?

If it is Myco I have always found Tylan 200 injected into the breast muscle twice 48 hours apart will do the trick, providing the bird has'nt been left to cope for to long.
If left to long infection can become so deep seated that they do not respond to any medication.

Re: WATER OR LACK OF IT

I don't think watering livestock is considered wasteful and I don't know of any business premises, farming or otherwise, who are not metered. I think it all boils down to a bit of, not so common, common sense, don't leave a tap running, put a brick in the toilet system, wash up the old fashioned way...

Re: humidity

r-Com 20, imho, is the best small bator on the market.
I've still got mine from when they first appeared and would'nt sell it for the world, it still comes into service occasionally when the big machine is overflowing.

Ditto Chuck.

Have you contacted the breeder, if they are at all reputable they should offer replacements

Re: He or she?

I kept cuckoo Marans for a few years and could always pick the boys out at about four weeks of age from their combs and on that basis these are girls apart from the fact that their pattern is very un male like as well. But I'm looking at the saddle hackles that are drooping at the side of their tail...

Re: Mareks in vaccinated hens

I'm surprised your vet did a pm, mine is a poultry vet and he will send them off to a lab but at the end of the day you could have done no more for her.
You gave her an excellent home, she could not have asked for better.
