We live in Crete. We have just bought 4 goslings - all very cute. :D We wanted 3 female and 1 male. The farmer admitted that he could not be sure but sexed them by the size of their heads and necks. On the internet I have seen that some say that if they have blue eyes then they are male and brown eyes are female. Is this true? Are the eyes an indicator of sex? If so we have 4 males.

Hello, no, it is not true- eye colour has nothing to do with sex! Eye colour is down to breed/breeding- you can vent sex them at day old- if not then you must wait until adult-vent sexing is the only sure way of telling- you can "guess" if your are experienced enough but until they lay eggs you cannot tell- a goose tends to have a lower voice than a gander- his is more high pitched- and if frightened then the ganders tend to face the fear protecting the geese.
regards, David :)
