Seeing Tims generous offer above made me think. An idea that would get some forum funds in and maybe help some. Those of us who have spare hatching eggs donate 6 -say and advertise on here , to be sold at a low price for members on here only. The seller takes PandP only -the rest of the payment going to funds . Would help forum and members and seller would only lose price of scrambled egg on toast for two! What do people -especially Tim and mods think?? Ros

Sorry to go off topic Tim but......

So sorry Girlracer, that is awfull.I trust the dog's owner did apologise and offer you the cost of buying another cockerel?I realise it isn't the same, but it is just as wrong for dogs to chase and kill chickens as sheep.
It would be an awfull shock for him to lose his feather's,he may have had internal injuries as well though.I only say that because years ago,my oldest whippet caught a friends chook  ,he pulled it's tail feathers out(Hamburg bantam)and she survived that.Lived for a few more years until a fox got her, which upset me and my friend even more, she luckily remained a friend.

Oh thanks guys, that's very kind of you. I'm in Holland at the moment (and it's snowing this morning -grr seen enough of this stuff already thanks..) so a little slow on the uptake - thanks to Snifter, I have found you now!

To put you in the picture, I have two 'private servers' for the forum and PK site - one handles the database, one the site software. This means it should be more reliable and faster than a shared server. If you share a server and another site does something silly, you go down with it... The costs however are covered by the banner ads on the pk site and the Amazon purchases people make so I'm happy.

I am not looking to make money out of the sites but covering costs and having a bit for a rainy day or for other site related things is great so I appreciate your kind fund raising offers.

What I can do is provide a link that goes to the hosting company and by donating anything through this link goes directly against the hosting account of the site. In other words, what you donate goes towards the bills and not beer

I will set up the link if you think this is a good way to go... Tim.

Ahh sunny again now but no time to enjoy it anyway.

OK just realised, I didn't say sorry to GR about her losing her cockerel. I do appologise. So let me rewind a moment...

Sorry to hear your sad news Girlracer, it's never nice losing a chook. Sometimes the shock of such an event can kill them.

OK I have just set up a link:

Hosting contribution link

This should allow you to donate directly to the hosting charges by paypal so I can't spend the money on beer / wine / more chickens / a larger field etc..!

Don't feel obliged in any way mind you, as I said in my earlier post, I'm happy, I have the costs covered at the moment and I've got the help on Snifter with the moderating so I don't feel I always need to be dropping in every day to check up on things which certainly makes it more pleasurable for me.
